Welcome! 2012 - OUR 150th ANNIVERSARY
The Free and Accepted Masons (F&AM) have been an active organization in the West Bend area, since the 1862. Since that time, Freemasonry has grown to become the largest fraternity in the world. Gerald Ford, Franklin D Roosevelt, Henry
Ford, Louis
Armstrong, John Wayne, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington were all
members of this historic fraternity. In all, sixteen US presidents,
and dozens of senators have been part of this revered organization.
Masons, Shriners, Knights Templar, Order of Eastern Star,
DeMolay, Job's Daughters are all part of the Masonic fraternity. It's
likely that your father, grandfather or next door neighbor wears the
familiar ring featuring the Square and Compasses with the letter "G" in
the center.
Not unlike the Elks, Rotary or Knights of Columbus, we are men who meet
regularly with the goal of making each other better men. We also give
to our communities. We pride ourselves on being caring, involved
community members, but we are different from other organizations in
that we not only encourage our members to live upright and moral lives,
but we use allegory, symbolism, and rites of passage to serve as reminders for us each time that we meet.
Making Good Men Better. We do it with
friendship, study, companionship, camaraderie and brotherhood.
We affirm life's positive experiences and uphold each other in life's
challenges. We refer to sources in historical texts. Life
lessons. "Aha!" moments. There are personal discoveries
that
cause each man to reevaluate where he has been in his life, what he has
done, and how he can live his life in the future for the betterment of
all. Becoming part of the Masonic fraternity can be a paradigm
shift. For many the epiphany is ongoing...
Masonry offers insights to both the simple and complex... the beauty of the universe, the
symmetry of architecture, the rhythm of music, the value of the
bible. We ponder the duty of mankind to one another, the solemnity of promises
made, the universality of brotherhood, the prayer of the humble, the satisfaction of a job well done.
You may have heard someone say that they were being given "the third
degree" when being questioned thoroughly. That phrase, along with many
others has its' roots in Freemasonry. You see, the third degree is one
that is not conferred without the member being questioned to determine
his readiness to participate. His willingness to see the light...
Considering what Freemasonry has to offer?
Freemasonry offers as much as you give. It's a journey that is perhaps just beginning, with many paths to be taken. Are you ready?
If so, we encourage you to send us a short note to let us know of your interest. info@westbendmasoniclodge.com
